Energy Agent for a day

1.1.2010 > 31.12.2010 - Demonstration, workshop - Denmark

“Energy Agent for a day” is a workshop for 4th to 6th grade school children teaching them about power generation and how power consumption can easily be reduced. Duration: 3 hours. In “Energy Agent for a day” the students are recruited as Energy Agents to help the country 'Elektricitania' to produce enough power for its inhabitants.

Goal of activity:
In “Energy Agent for a day” The agents are presented for various forms of power generation, pros and cons, including environmental issues. The agents get a good insight into how a family can reduce power consumption by changing their choices and habits.

Main audience:
Groups, school children

Instructions:
The workshop is divided into two parts.

Part 1:
To become Energy Agents the students must learn about different power generation types.

This is done at four command centres where agents in groups have to decide which forms of power generation units to use to produce electricity corresponding to the demand of the entire Elektricitania.

Part 2:
In the second part, the Energy Agents teach the inhabitants of Elektricitania how to cut down on the electricity consumption in their homes.

Using models of houses the Energy Agents reduce power consumption by replacing and scrapping power consuming gadgets in the house. The result is read directly on a display.
