Science Centre will organize special guided tour on historical ship which will sail on Nature Conservation Area Alam-Pedja. The main values of the area are its ecological diversity, different swamp communities and rivers. The uniqueness of the conservation area lies in its old rivers, the structure of its forest communities and extraordinarily low number of population. Alam-Pedja Nature Conservation Area has belonged among wetlands of international significance (Ramsar areas) since 1997 and among Natura 2000 bird and nature areas since 2004.
Climate warming due to enchanced greenhouse effect is expected to have a significant impact on the natural environment at high latitudes. Changes in the region's climate will ultimately lead to changes in the productivity of marine and coastal ecosystems and it's impact on inland wetlands and their biodiversity has not been sufficiently investigated or generalized. The main projected impacts on inland wetlands and their biodiversity are associated with changing hydrological conditions doe to increases of temperature and changes in seasonal precipitation patterns which leads to shorter periods with snow cover, higher evapotranspiration and reduced groundwater recharge. Lowering groundwater level is expected to increase the mineralization rates which in turn could increase the avability of nutriens and result in eutriphication; which would affect wetland species composition.
