Cafe Scientifique "Global warming doesn't exist?"

22.9.2010 - Conference, debate - Estonia

i do climate - Cafe Scientifique

As Global Warming is very sensitive subject we would like to listen the both part – people who truly believe in Global Warming and people who say it is fiction. The third Science Cafe would be arranged as a debate between those two sides and Science Center AHHAA would like to give a free microphone to scientists and skeptics because we believe that every criticism is good for finding the truth.

There are many uncertainties around climate science. Scientists say they are still unsure about some of the impacts of global warming. The effect on coral reefs is clear, but there's limited understanding about the impacts on fisheries, for example. Climate change is about science, but not just about science. It's about business and politics and wielding influence. Scepticism, of course, is a hallmark of science. Some global-warming critics are simply suspicious about the idea of consensus in the scientific community.

Sceptics of global warming believe that global warming is not an environmental problem. They think that the recent increase in the earth's temperature is no cause for alarm. And they believe that earth's coastlines and polar ice caps are not in danger of disappearing. Skeptics believe that the climate models used to prove global warming and to predict its effects are misrepresented. They point out that according to the models, the last century should have been much worse than it actually was.

We will see what it´s going to happen on 22nd of September. Will we find the TRUTH?

The Cafe Scientifique will be held on September 22th 2010 in Dorpat Conference Center (Soola 6, Tartu 51014)
