An engaging presentation introducing the climate system in general and particularly the greenhouse effect to an interested audience of any age. Some common misconceptions about the atmosphere and the greenhouse effect are emphasized and explained. An important part of the presentation consists of developing an understanding of the mechanism of the greenhouse effect and illustrating it with an experiment. The role of industrial pollution in the climate system is discussed, leading to the question: what can I do to pollute less? The audience is encouraged to participate actively.
